Hail Report Information
Station Number: CO-LR-767
Station Name: Estes Park 1.8 S
Date: 6/30/2023 11:40 AM
Submitted 6/30/2023 10:35 PM
Taken at registered location: True
Notes: Several inches of hail collected on the ground (e.g. on flat pavement), and little pointy mtns from roof valleys/creases were 1-2 ft high. Start time not noted with clock presence (thus, estimate), but it was ending around 12:05 pm. Broke a gazing ball. Temp dropped to low 50s. Unusually "severe" for this location. Event equilibrated to 1.28" water in ~2 hours including a little following-hail rain. With further thought, I don't know how much hail vs. rain as water source because I was so busy trying to save the potted plants. Quite a lot was water very soon as/after falling. Lucky to have fairly quickly removed funnel and inner cylinder to improve collection accuracy because of abundant "hail-bounce."
