Notes: Lightning storm preceded hail by about 30 minutes. Could see lots of lightning toward the west, gradually moving eastward toward my location with thunder increasing in volume. Only a couple of actual lightning bolts observed, the rest seemed to be in the clouds or behind mountains to southwest. Just a few sprinkles of rain preceded the hail, but after the hail stopped, significant heavy rain started and lasted for about 15 minutes. Heavy wind from the SSW also observed, gusting to 18 mph at one point. Received .07" of precipitation in 15 minutes.
