Hail Report Information
Station Number: PA-BR-2
Station Name: Reading 3.5 SW
Date: 3/23/2011 7:00 PM
Submitted 3/23/2011 9:05 PM
Taken at registered location: True
Notes: Thunderstorm with frequent vivid lightning occurred between 7:00 and 7:20 PM and continued at much lesser frequency till 8:00 PM. Hail of varying sizes up to 3/4" but mostly pea size covered the ground and has been melting slowly with an air temperature around 37°F. It's very unusual in this region to have a hail storm with such chilly temperatures, but I am aware temperatures aloft are much warmer resulting in an elevated thunderstorm like those which are much more common over the Nation's Heartland.
