Station Number: ID-AD-9
Station Name: Boise 2.1 NNE
Report Date: 1/24/2021
Submitted: 1/24/2021 9:28 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
January 17-23, 2021: A total of 0.05" precip (rain/snow slurry and rain) occurring at the end of the otherwise dry week. Snow in the foothills and for the most part rain on the valley floor. A mix of below normal and above normal daytime and nighttime temperatures. Ground is frozen in the morning and thawed by afternoon. Overcast or bright sun. Some days the solar powered lights are fully charged and produce light until morning; some days there's not enough recharge to produce light until midnight. Breezy some days and calm others. Tree and evergreens have begun shedding pollen; elm trees are shedding the leaf caps. Some plants in the gardens are waking up-- earliest tulips, iris, mints. Dracaena have not been winter killed this winter. Birds are very hungry at the feeders. Robins have come through, eating or removing all the blue cedar berries. Snowpack in the mountains is moderate (in the 80th percent of normal snow water equivalent) in north, central and western Idaho. Northern Idaho has the highest percents. Basins in SW, east, and east central basins are in the 50-60% of normal range and need a lot more snow in the next few months! Without more snowpack this winter, fire conditions next summer may be critical in these areas.Current streamflow conditions of the Boise River (Glenwood bridge) have been a about 260 cfs.
