Description:
For the week ending 12/10/2017, conditions were NEAR NORMAL. The 7-day moving precipitation total of 0.66 inches was 18% above the 8-year (2009-2016) average of 0.56 inches for this date and in the “near normal” range; the 30-day total of 3.31 inches was 25% above the 8-year average of 2.65 inches and in the “near normal” range; and the 90-day total of 15.52 inches was 75% above average and in the “severely wet” range. Snow was responsible for 83% of total precipitation (0.55 of 0.66 inches) this week. There was a total of 9.7 inches of new snow this week, with a maximum snow depth of 7.0 inches (on th 10th). Temperatures plummeted this week as we experienced our first real winter weather, ranging from 60 (on the 4th) to 13 (on the 8th) degrees F, with average Hi/Lo temperatures of 41/27 F. Overall, the average high temperature was 10 degrees cooler than last week, and the average low temperature was 7 degrees cooler than last week. Moderate to strong winds prevailed throughout much of the week. For the first time this year, ice and/or slush covered a majority of the surface of Crescent Lake on the 10th. A party of two individuals was fishing on Crescent Lake on the 3rd.
