Our dearth of moisture continues as I recorded no measurable precipitation for the past week. The longer days and often sunny conditions continue to slowly degrade our minimal snowpack now at just 11.0 inches. There are many insects beginning to appear although to this point no mosquitoes. The moose remain MIA but the wild birds abound obviously enjoying the warmer weather. Many of the local lakes show evidence of water up-welling through the thin ice and then re-freezing on the surface ice at night. The environment appears ready for the seasonal change!
