In our case, San Antonio, TX is in exceptional drought. Measurable rain, .09, was last in my gage two weeks ago. In January 2024, the city had over 4 inches of rain, and my backyard had a good start. This year, the ground is hard with very little grass or even weeds. The Mexican Sycamore I planted last year is thriving because I water it with 40 gallons of water each week and plenty of fertilizers and mulch. With a dog that likes to dig, I grow plants and veggies in containers. I've really waited for four years to invest in good St. Augustine turf grass. September can be an ideal time in San Antonio if weather is normal.
