A trace of precip from 0.1" of snow was recorded at my station over the past week. A week that was fairly cold with a low of around -10F Tuesday morning that pretty much matched the NWS cold forecasts, with warmer forecasts on the way. Most likely many are hoping that they continue. Area waterways are low and frozen up along with the surface soil. So, all things considered, continuing with moderately dry soil conditions seems about right. I saw various tracks in the snow recently, including fox, deer, squirrels, mice, likely coyote and only one set of rabbit tracks. I also saw what was probably a coopers hawk and definitely a red tailed hawk, on the lookout for sure. I don't know which is worse right now, being a starving predator searching for its next meal or being the meal. Well, probably being the meal.
