What a difference a week makes! This week brought rain on 5 out of 7 days for a total of 2.41 inches, not a lot but enough to really get vegetation to be fully leafed out. Our meadow is now wetter than usual with standing water. A second wild fire started last weekend in WMNF just 12 miles south of here, its cause unknown, but it had burned over 100 acres as of Friday. We could smell and see smoke in the air here. It was expected that recent rains should help that situation. Many new bird arrivals this week. Black flies have increased significantly. After several days of cool temps, high temps have arrived again. Yesterday's high here 87.0 F, and last nights low only 63.9 F, this time heat is accompanied by very high humidity.
