Description:
Another quiet week with only one rainy day. Nonetheless, the grass and foliage is still green and healthy. Usually, we'd be wondering if the dead grass was going to come back to life in time for one more mowing to set the stage for winter, but we've mowed regularly all summer this year. Temperatures finally went below summer heat levels toward the end of this week, and it feels lovely to sleep with the windows open. We have a new neighbor, and he wasn't particularly receptive to my attempts to discuss the wildlife that inhabits his backyard, which includes a herd of rabbits under his patio. He's put up a tall wooden fence, which worries me somewhat, because it will inhibit movement for the rabbits. It is tightly sunk into the ground, and I am concerned for their welfare. So far, he hasn't installed the gate, and I hope that the rabbits have responded to the noise and chaos of the movers and the owner's last-minute repairs, and left for a more friendly environment. I haven't seen them lately. Who would fence their yard in so tightly? We are all a part of our environment, and while we have a low wire fence on our property line, it is easy enough for animals to cross it. The new owner plans to cut down his trees too! Obviously the American Dream looks different in each household. Anyway, to get back to the weather, it's super nice here this weekend. Looking forward to some real autumn weather, which is my favorite season.
