Description:
Comment: Lack of rain has slowed plant growth but the birds must be foraging for food as birdfeeder use has slowed down. Digging in the garden yesterday the soil down about 6” was much colder than the surface, but not frozen.
Animal Activity: First retile of the spring, a garter snake was seen on the edge of the grass.  The Eastern phoebe is almost done with her nest on the covered porch. The birds are drinking out of the pool cover again.
Plant Activity: Daffodils are blooming. Other plants are budding.  Forsythia in bloom, lilac leafing out.
Growing season: Underway
Lawn: Grass is greening up and starting to grow.  Still plenty of brown spots.
Foliage: Some wilting on Rhododendrons due to lack of any meaningful precipitation.
Recent Precip: 0.02” in the last week
Snow cover: None
Temporary Stream:Dry
Pond level: Down about a foot, no ice
House perimeter drain: dry
