Description:
This was a bit of a wet week with a t/storm during the evening of Friday the 13th. This cell on radar looked like one big ameba with a bright green spot in it’s stomach.. that would be our GPS position spot. It turned out it was not food but a drain plug and it drained that thing of 1.35” of rain in one hour. 5:45-6:45 PM. It wasn’t much bigger than the green spot when it finally crawled away. Never have I ever seen anything like that. And only a distant pop and rumble with a few gusts of wind and that was it. Just nice moderately heavy rain. Then the next evening at 4:45 it sort of happened again but we only got 0.34” but the other Cocorah on the N. end of the island got 0.86”. Only a glancing blow.

The garden looks better after all that. Yard long beans, Arugula and radishes. The pears and Japanese persimmons are coming along just fine. The figs did not do well with the cold winter. I was hoping they would. So it goes.

Lots of tourists so business is good.

The turtles are still slow and last evening we had a 9.5’ tide that came over the dunes and turtle nests and may have an impact on the hatch. We’ll have to watch that one. It’ll be what it’ll be.

That’s it mates.. until next time, get out there and take a walk in the woods… cheers to ya..! Daufuskie Dundee.
