Station Number: WI-CB-4
Station Name: Portage 5.7 WSW
Report Date: 4/21/2018
Submitted: 4/21/2018 5:34 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
The first 3 weeks of April my area received 4.10" of needed moisture, to bring us to near normal on surface moisture, Since a week ago Friday, Mother Nature has thrown just about everything she has at us. Friday the 13th morning was the start of wild weather before completely ending 80 hrs later. Friday started out with thunderstorms where an inch of pea sized hail covered the ground, changing to rain, to inches of sleet, freezing rain and snow, with winds to 40 plus MPH. This storm dumped a lot of snow north of me from 15 to 30". There was a 24 hr break, and and another storm dumped 7.5" of heavy wet snow. It is melting fast with the warm April sun, Things are slow to green up, so there is still a threat of wild fires when things dry out. There is ponding in the fields, and it is now muddy. The ditches, sloughs have come up, as well as the Baraboo River. Also it looks like we may have broken out of a very long stretch of below normal temps. Everyone is ready for warmer weather.
