Station Number: CO-GN-59
Station Name: Pitkin 1.1 SW
Report Date: 10/1/2022
Submitted: 10/01/2022 7:40 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
September's precipitation (1.19") was 132% of average. Water Year 2022 brought near normal Total Precipitation (18.94", 97% of average). A deeper looks shows that the water content from snowfall was 90% of average and rainfall was 109% of average. Current spring water flows are 100% of normal for the date. Aspen leaf colors have peaked, but are still going strong. The colors are not all that spectacular this year, but good. Elk are in the rut and frequent bugling is heard in the woods. The first snow of the season is sitting on the peaks above about 11,000' this morning. Overall, things are looking OK here. The water situation on a broader scale is not as rosy. Local reservoirs are very low. Noxious weeds are flourishing in parts of the wild forests. We still need a big snow winter or two to improve the water situation in the southwest.
